As a 2016 certified “Fear Free Elite Professional,” Diane is a trusted resource to enhance the quality of our medicine as well as reduce or remove anxiety triggers that can cause pets to be fearful at home, in transport, and at the veterinary hospital. Diane has also completed the Human-Animal Bond Certification Program which helps veterinary staff develop a formal understanding of human-animal interaction research and learn how to use that knowledge in everyday practice.
Diane has lived in North Carolina for nearly 15 years with her husband, Johnny, and shares her home currently with their 3 dogs, Hannah, Sonoma, and Penny -and 2 cats, Dover and Phoenix.
DJ grew up not too far from here in Albemarle, NC before attending North Carolina State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Zoology. DJ has always been obsessed with everything science and animals. He is very passionate about understanding animal behavior to better care for them. This translates over to making sure all our veterinary patients have the most stress-free visit possible!
As a leader in our mission of “Changing the Way Pets See the Vet” and a Fear Free Certified Professional, DJ conducts what we call “Happy Visits” where pets come in for treats, friendly interactions, and desensitization of stimuli that may cause fear, anxiety, or stress. Over time, many pets that are skeptical of coming to the vet become happy, willing participants in their annual exams! If you have a pet that experiences fear, anxiety, or stress while at the vet, ask about our “Happy Visits!”
DJ shares his home with his wife, Emily, along with their furry and scaly children: Mason the pit bull mix, Merlin the dachshund mix, Maple the kitty cat, and Midas & Minerva the bearded dragons.
