Pet Poison Prevention Month

As pet parents, our furry, four-legged loved ones are always around us, and like with all of our loved ones, we want to share the things we enjoy with them. Most of us know the basics of what is safe and what is not but, sometimes it’s not so black and white. Some of it is common sense and some of it makes no sense. Some things are ok for dogs but not for cats. Sometimes we have to also question the moderation and health issues of our loved ones as well. Our pet care professionals here at Harbor Point Animal Hospital are always here to help provide answers but, as a general rule of thumb we must remind ourselves to always ask the question “Is it safe?”. According to the Animal Poison Control Center, food is the 3rd most common intoxicant for pets, after over-the-counter medications and prescription medications. Pumpkin Petcare Insurance has created an excellent infographic to help us with some of the most common foods our furry loved ones will beg for.
