When to Seek Emergency Care
Determining whether your pet needs emergency care can be overwhelming and frightening. We advise you to contact us or one of our emergency care referral facilities immediately if you feel your pet’s condition is serious and cannot wait. A trained professional can help you decide on the best course of action. The following guidelines can be used as an aid in making a decision. If your pet is exhibiting any of the following signs, they most likely need to be seen on an emergency basis. This list is by no means comprehensive.
- Difficulty breathing
- A distended, bloated abdomen
- Profuse hemorrhage or major known trauma
- Collapse or profound weakness
- Sudden lose of use of the rear legs
- Unable to urinate or defecate
- Protracted vomiting or diarrhea
- Known exposure to dangerous poisons
“I was in an emergency situation with my pet..I can not say enough about the staff from beginning to end & Dr. Laity was outstanding! So thorough and personable, all the way around, the staff was very caring. Thank you!”
“I cannot say enough about Dr. Laity and her staff. Zoe was very sick, Dr. Laity and Diane and staff went above and beyond in their care for her. They dropped everything to help her and get her stable. Dr. Laity explained everything that was going on and took me to see her, where 2 members of her staff plus the doctor were caring for her. They got her to the point that she could go to the Denver animal emergency hospital for further care. Even though Zoe did not make it I can honestly say that Harbor Point gave Zoe the will to fight with everything she had. She had a good 17 years. Thank you Dr Laity, Diane, Sandy and the whole staff for all you did. This Is the place you want to take your animals for care, not only will you be happy but so will your animals.”
“If you are looking for quality veterinarian care, with passion and concern Harbor Point Animal Hospital should be your first stop in Mooresville. Our dog had a life threatening illness, which another local vet put off Friday evening doing anything until after the weekend. Had we waited my dog may not be here today or I would of had a huge Emergency Veterinarian bill elsewhere. On a Saturday morning, Dr. Keith Berley was so concerned, he went ahead and operated that morning. My Shih-tuz is doing great and I feel blessed to have found a vet office that provided excellent care and service. Heartfelt thanks to the team and Harbor Point Animal Hospital, you did make a difference!”
